2nd TriKidz Race Report (15 June 2008)

We just finished our 2nd TriKidz Race and boy are we tired.

Held at the same venue in UPNM Kem Sungai Besi, there was a huge improvement in the race this time around compared to the first. We came better prepared and organized this time. We now have :

1) a proper fishing line and chute
2) a proper bike rack and transition area
3) more marshalls manning the race course
4) proper MC and sound system (eventhough it broke down halfway in the race)
4) water stations!!
5) more goodies to give away
6) medals
7) tshirts

The race started around slightly before 9AM in a relaxed manner. There were initially 5 categories which were to be flagged off one after the other. However the organizers decided to start a few categories at the same time since some categories had too few participants. So in the end we had 3 flag offs.

The older category E started first. They had to cover 300m swim, 4K bike (3 laps) and 1K run (4 laps).

Then category C and D category were sent off. They had to do 200m swim, 2K bike (2 laps) and 800m run (4 laps).

Lastly was the cute and smaller A and B category. The little ones had to do 50m swim, 1K bike (1 lap) and 200m run.

Everyone was simply tired afterwards but it was all in the name of fun. No one lost today, everybody won because everybody received medals and now can brag to their friends that they are now TRIATHLETES. Hard proof are the medals which were all well earned.

Parents please do not envy your children.

Prizes were later on given to top5 finishers. We even had a lucky draw round giving out goodies given by our generous sponsors PowerBar and Milo from Nestle.

We believe that everybody went back with a smile on their face and a feeling of pure satisfaction. We hope with that you will come again to our next event somewhere in December. Please spread the news around.

Please watch out for more updates in the website. Plus please be alert for TriKidz report in our daily newspaper this couple of days. We had a few newspaper reporters during our race covering this historical event.

Lastly from the organizers we thank all the parents for your support. We thank our kind sponsors PowerBar and Milo from Nestle for being too generous (yes, we will all buy Nestle products only after this). Lastly, we thank the hardworking UPNM students for making the race as smooth as it is.

Results, pictures and more updates will soon come. Please visit this site often.

See you in December!
